CONFERENCE HELD IN COOPERATION WITH THE MARMARA UNIVERSITY INSTITUTE OF TURKIC STUDIES / 10 DECEMBER, 2012

Dr. Arif Naushahi, Professor of Persian language and literature at Government Gordon College (Rawalpindi, Pakistan), came to Turkey to join “the International Workshop on Critical Edition of Manuscripts”, organized as part of İSAM’s “Late Classical Period Project”. On Monday, 10 December, 2012, at 16.00 Dr Nevshahi spoke at the conference programme entitled “The Importance of Persian Printed Books in Indo-Pak Subcontinent in terms of Islamic and Turkic Studies”.
The aim of the programme was mainly to introduce the catalogue prepared by Naushahi, which covers more than 20,000 works in Persian published in the subcontinent between 1781 and 2007, entitled Kitâbşinâsî-yi Âsâr-ı Fârsî-yi Çâp Şode der Şibh-i Kârre (Tahran, 2012).
The programme began with an introductory speech by the director of the Institute of Turkic Studies, Dr. Gülşen Seyhan Alışık and concluded with a speech by Dr. Necdet Tosun, a lecturer at Marmara University Theology Faculty, Department of Sufism.
