THE SEMINAR “BETWEEN THEORY AND PRACTICE THE PUBLICATION OF MANUSCRIPTS” IS HELD AT ISAM

ISAM has organized “the International Workshop on Critical Edition of Manuscripts: Methods and Problems” in December 2012 as the first step of “the Second Project of the Late Classical Period”. Now ISAM has added a new one to its preliminary works within the context of the activities of critical edition (tahqīq).
Dr. Faisal al- Hafian, the program coordinator of the Ma’had al-mahtūtāt al-Arabiyya (The Institute of Arabic Manuscripts) in Cairo, Egypt gave a seminar at ISAM on 5 February 2013, entitled: “Between Theory and Practice, the Publication of Manuscripts.”
In his seminar, Hafian presented information on the science of critical edition in general and about the Ma’had al-mahtūtāt al-Arabiyya in particular. Stating that Ma’had al-mahtūtāt al-Arabiyya offers postgraduate and doctorate degrees in tahqīq (critical edition of manuscripts), Hafian expressed in his seminar that it is the only institution which offers postgraduate education and degrees in this subject. In addition, there was an exchange of ideas about the prospective activities of collaboration and cooperation between ISAM and Ma’had al-mahtūtāt al-Arabiyya.
