
Hanafi School Workshop to Held in Uzbekistan
May 22, 2024The fourth session of the Hanafi School Workshop, which aims to examine the history of Islamic law through the lens of the Hanafi school, focusing on its pivotal moments and ongoing continuities up to the present day, will be held this year from June 4-7 in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, hosted by the Imam Bukhari Institute. The opening panel of the workshop, titled 'Approaches to Islamic Law: Historicism, Critical Studies, and Normative Practice,' will take place on June 4 at the Imam Bukhari Institute with the participation of Mohammad Fadel, Murteza Bedir, and Marion Katz.
The third Hanafi School Workshop, also with extensive international participation, was held last year from June 7-9 at ISAM. The first workshop of this now traditional series was held in 2018 in the Netherlands, and after a few years' hiatus due to the pandemic, the second one took place in 2022 in Bosnia and Herzegovina."
